Dear family, friends and sailors!
We had a gorgeous parade of sails out of the harbor, so many people ashore, it nearly looked like a the Volvo start. Everybody was waving goodbye, on the boats as well as ashore. The weather was with ideal, a fresh breeze and sunshine, the boats were glancing in the broad sun, it just was 'the' perfect sailing day.
The start went well, we decided to start on the right side and managed to keep our planed course out of the sound. Going out of the Narrangansett Bay we could play to our strength, speeded up and found ourself head-to-head with Tutima. Finally when passing point Charly we leaded our group. If we could just keep that lead ;-) but it's still a long way to go.

Danas u 20:00 sati starta 'HSH Nordbank Blue Race'. U ženskoj posadi na brodu KPMG jedri puljanka Petra KLIBA-SCHMIDT u ulozi co-skipera.

 First of all I want to thank you for your replies! Some even managed to reply to all ;-) It's nice to go on this trip knowing you're all with me. Sorry I don't have enough time to answer the replies now, but we'll have plenty of time to talk, when I'm back in the 'Old World'!
Yesterday evening, after stowing the food, we had a 'little' farewell party. We also got our race tracking device so you now can see were we are. The signal is sent out every half hour. To find our KPMG, you just have to go to the races web page: http://www.hsh-nordbank-blue-race.com/ and click on the 'Race Traker' picture. The race web page will also provide you with news and pictures as well as our team web page: http://www.team-dhh-kpmg.de. I'll try to send some news whenever possible, but please dont' expect a daily report, after all we have a race to win ;-)

Dear family, friends and sailors!
Only two more day to the start here in Newport Rhode Island.
 We've been working on preparing the boat every day form 7am to 8pm and are nearly done. The morning starts with a breakfast and I've fetched us some 'Palačinke' (Croatian' pan cakes), as a good motivation for the day work ahead ;-) The Boat has been skinned from all dispensable weight, the electrics, mechanics and all winches have been maintained, the hull was polished and the sponsor stickers have been attached.

Dear family, Dear friends and sailors!
I've safely reached the boat in Newport. It has been quite a long trip and my legs have been fallen asleep. From the airport we could fortunately drive together with another crew to Newport. So, today was immediately a working day. The team spirit is good and the work is going on well. Until the start we're staying in a house and I'm already living on Miracoli and Muesli ;-)
