Today at 12:00 we start to the 4th and final leg of the Baltic-Sprint-Cup. The wind conditions which our weatherman predicts for the next two days are Adriatic. The 170 nautical miles from Gdansk to Ronne on the Island of Bornhlom in Denmark will be the ultimate mental test. While the start will be governed by light northerly winds, the night is said to be very quiet. In fact to quit for us. So we will have to look for the thermical winds near the coast, but pssst... don't tell anybody ;-) The other challenge will be to hold up the concentration in the team and keep the boat going fast. Our motivation is high after the successful racing of the last days...

 

We already decided the gulf of Gdansk is our estuary! We could connect to yesterdays win and successfully race round-the-buoys in this nice Baltic Mestral in front of Gdynia. The finishing times were very close together and we got another first place in the first race and a fourth place in the second race.
During the first race blew a light northerly, so our Genoa #1 was just the right sail. When the wind picked up, we decided to change to the #2 but after the start the wind died down again and we lost important speed, otherwise it would have been for sure another win in the second race.

Today the Round-the-buoy races in the Gulf of Gdansk are taking place. After yesterdays intensive manoeuvre training, we should be prepared for some short distance fleet racing, which I have been so much looking forward to. A typical 'Burin' and later a light 'Mestral' to 12knots is expected. After the Skippers Meeting we will do some more preparational training and at 11:00 will be the start for the first regatta.

Due to our win on leg 3 we have already climbed to place 4 over all in our group and today we want to ad some good results ;-)

Today, very early this morning around half past three we crossed the finish line for the third race of the Baltic Sprint Cup from Kleipeda to Gdynia. Finally, a few hours later we knew we are the winner in our Racer 2 group. It has been a gorgeous racing, with this northerly wind of around 15 knots and a perfect reaching cours, we played out our strengths. Well, the sight of our opponents every now and then, surely played it's part and gave us additional motivation to race the boat faster than ever.
