Today at 9:33 the last boat of our class finished, which proved the characteristics of this leg. In these light wind conditions everybody searched for the better wind and ended up in a nice breeze ordead calm. A situation in which we found ourselves during the night form 30th to 31st, when we sailed along the coast with the coastalthermal winds. As we recognized we need to get more offshore to catchthe in setting see breeze, there was not really a chance to go northdue to the weak winds. Here we lost ground on to our opponents who gained some distance on their way to Bornholm.
Around noon, as the expected see breeze near
Bornholm failed to appear we were in the hunt. Coming from the mainland
with the increasing thermal winds we racedwith up to 7 knots towards
the little Danish island where the rest of the fleet appeared to be
waiting for us, all of a sudden we had again boats in front and behind
of us.
To make a long story short, we finished yesterday at 23:10 and reached a 7th place in
our class on this leg. This sets us on 7th over all in the class Racer
2 and on 11th place in the all Racer class.
In the evening the final price giving and the final party are
taking place and tomorrow we will sail back to Germany. Well for our
last leg home the weather is expected to be similar to the start of leg one, so we will have a fast and wet ride to KPMGs home harbour.
