Dear family, friends and sailors!
In strong winds we fly towards point alpha our virtual mark to make sure the fleet avoids the ice.
We're did daily average of 230 nautical miles per 24 hours and rising that value every day a bit working hard to keep up our speed.
We've permanent sail changes and when the wind went up high we sailed with the Genoa 4 and a fully reefed mainsail.
But we enjoy the sun and the high waves washing over the deck very much, while our KPMG is surfing down the waves, it's just one kick after another ;-) Especially when we set the storm spinnaker and and surft through the 4 to 5 meter high waves with over 16 knots.
Inken, Frauke, Sabine and Susi had to have a shower on deck they mentioned it was nearly like at home. thanks to the golf stream which we reached some time ago the water has 24°C, it's just a little salty. We also had already some company, a group of dolphins and later on even three whales joind us on our run to point alpha swimming just 30 meters aside the boat.
Wet greetings from the Atlantic,
Petra
